Finals

Once that last week of the quarter or semester rolls around, all hell breaks loose. Teachers frantically grade papers and assignments. Students stress about homework and tests, and stay up until 11 to finish studying. On Jan 14 I have officially finished 1/4 of my finals. Then the other 3 on Thursday & Friday.

While studying once 9:30 hits, I am pretty much useless and cannot seem to let the info in. I forget it within the next few minutes. So naturally I have to finish all my studying before 5:30 to get it all done. Whether it be to read in my Biology textbook or in my Geography textbook. Math class has never been my strong suit. I have always kept a steady B or if some miracle math fairy comes down I can get a A- every few quarters. Most students and teachers hate multiple choice math tests because they have questions that are so alike or if you do it the wrong way thats one of the possible answers. I myself prefer these tests, I always seem to get 87% and up. But once written quizzes and test which are multiple choice I get 65%-87%.

Most teachers understand that the last week of the quarter is crazy and sometimes do tests the week before. But that is a 1/1000 chance that it would happen. I can officially admit that I am a student who starts studying two days before a final, vs some kids who start weeks ahead. It is just very hard to push myself to study, I always wait until last minute. I study for 15 minutes then decide to have a 30 min break. Which is a really bad habit. I have gotten better but I still have to develop the best method for me to push myself to study. So I don't do anything all day then panic when it is already 8:00 and I am just starting to study.2

I have a lot of ways to study. Some teachers force us to play games. Which I mean helps me to study in Spanish but in a core class its hard for me to do vocab like that. I prefer to either make flashcards or a Quizlet. Also music seems to help me to focus and get homework done. But not classical music that is suppose to help. But pop music. I may be slightly moving my hand or body to the beat but I able to focus. (Listening to Pandora while writing this) If I could change a rule about test taking it would be to allow music during tests. Many students would probably thank me for that.

Good luck to all who have finals in these next few weeks. May the good grades be with you!
